This is an invitation only event focussing on the issues, opportunities, challenges and project drivers facing the low rank coal industry globally, providing delegates with an opportunity for information exchange and collaboration.  The Symposium is once again supported by the International Energy Agency Clean Coal Centre (IEA CCC) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).On Day One, speakers representing the major international low rank coal users and producers will provide an overview of the changes in the low rank coal industry since the second Symposium in 2012, and the future of the industry in their jurisdiction, including:

Day Two will also include sessions on the social license required to operate, including project case studies showcasing strategic approaches taken to engaging the community, successes and failures, and lessons learned.

 

Day Three will provide presentations on technology developments, including carbon capture and storage, by leading international experts.

The 2014 Symposium will build on the outcomes of very successful Symposiums in 2010 and 2012.  The second Symposium in 2012 was attended by 300 delegates representing 23 of the major coal user and producer countries.

The Symposium will offer a range of sponsorship opportunities, providing organisations with exposure to senior members of the global low rank coal community, and a platform  to promote awareness of branding, products, and technology offerings, to an international audience of more than 300 delegates.

Following the success of the inaugural Young Energy Professionals Program in 2012, the Symposium will again host energy industry professionals, 35 years of age and under, in a Young Energy Professionals Program.
