ENEA
ENEA is the National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development. Defined as a ‘public law body aimed at research and technological innovation, as well as to provide advanced services to enterprises, public administration and citizens in the fields of energy, environment and sustainable economic development’ (Law 221/2015). Since June 2021, ENEA has held a 4% share in Sotacarbo.
With over 2,600 employees, most of whom are researchers and technologists, it is the country's largest energy and environment agency. It operates in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and is a leader in fusion research and nuclear safety technologies.
The ENEA structure consists of 14 research centres and laboratories and 19 regional offices. ENEA's wealth of knowledge and research results is available to companies, especially small and medium-sized ones, to the public administration and to citizens, through services, processes and products, training and information activities, and the transfer of know-how.
