The first edition of the International Conference on Energy Transition, "Towards a Sustainable Future", featured 42 presentations and 40 speakers representing five continents.
The conference, organized by Sotacarbo, brought together policy makers from the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and the Sardinia Region, representatives of industry and the global scientific community. The first two days, at the T Hotel in Cagliari (27–28 January), were dedicated to global energy transition scenarios, regional policies, low-carbon technologies, and green hydrogen. The third day (29 January) took place at the Sotacarbo Research Center in Carbonia and focused on a workshop that explored the opportunities of a just transition for the European Union, with particular attention to the case of Sulcis Iglesiente and the role of the Refuel project, defined as strategic by the European Commission.
