What is it

Sotacarbo, and other international speakers from China, Japan, Italy, Spain, and the United States, has been invited to the 9th edition of the International Environment Forum for CCS, held in Seoul, South Korea, last 6th November.

The event has been organized by the Korean consortium K-COSEM (which includes some of the most important Korean universities and research centres) with the aim to promote international collaborations in the field of carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS). Sotacarbo participation allowed to introduce, in front of about 60 experts – mainly professors and researchers of the K-COSEM consortium – the main activities of the Centre of Excellence on Clean Energy project, funded by the Regional Government of Sardinia (FSC 2014-2020). Particular attention was paid to the Sotacarbo Fault Lab, research infrastructure that will be installed soon and that is gaining more and more interest by the international community for the advanced research activity that the infrastructure will allow. These activities will be the subject of different collaborations with several international partners, including the consortium K-COSEM, regulated by the memorandum of understanding recently signed.

The Forum was followed by a visit to the Daso-myeon site – where the researchers of the K-COSEM consortium carry out several studies on CO2 leakage in the soil. The whole event ended with a workshop organized for the students of the Korea University, where Sotacarbo had the chance to explain its low carbon energy vision. APettinau
